Amy Winehouse Funeral Brings Family and Friends Together, Covers NME Magazines

Friends and family were saying goodbye to Amy Winehouse Tuesday at a private funeral ceremony in London.

Producer Mark Ronson and media personality Kelly Osbourne - her hair piled beehive-high in an echo of the singer's trademark style - were among mourners arriving for the service at Edgwarebury Cemetery in north London.

The service was expected to be followed by cremation and a family gathering at a local synagogue.

The soul diva, who had battled alcohol and drug addiction, was found dead Saturday at her London home. She was 27.

An autopsy held Monday failed to determine the cause of the singer's death. Police are awaiting the results of toxicology tests, which will take two to four weeks.

On Monday the singer's father, mother and brother visited the house where she died, thanking mourners who had left flowers and cards.

Father Mitch Winehouse said "Amy was about one thing and that was love."

Her whole life was devoted to her family and her friends and to you guys as well," he told fans.

Since her death, her records have re-entered album charts around the world, and tributes have poured in from fans and fellow musicians.

George Michael called her "the most soulful vocalist this country has ever seen," and soul singer Adele said she "paved the way for artists like me and made people excited about British music again."

Talk of releasing Amy Winehouse’s third album begins…

Amy Winehouse’s unfinished third album, which she was working sporadically on for the last two years, could reportedly receive a posthumous release.

Within hours of Winehouse’s death, her 2006 album Back To Black had topped the iTunes chart and fans flocked to buy her most famous single, Rehab.

Sources said that the songs were at demo stage but there was “a lot of material” available, reports the Telegraph.

WinehouseWinehouse’s parents, Mitch and Janis, will have the final say on its release and it is expected to outsell Back To Black’s five million copies.

Industry experts described Winehouse as a true talent and said there would be huge demand for a posthumous album.

Phil Alexander, editor-in-chief of Mojo magazine, said: “It is inevitable that her death will elevate her reputation and that there will be a third record released.”

Adam Liversage of the British Phonographic Industry said: “You might argue that Amy Winehouse was already in the pantheon of greats. Her songs have become standards.

“Already there has been a lot of anticipation for a new album and if it was released posthumously that will only increase the interest in her,” he added.

During the rocky recording process for the album, Amy spent time in the studio with Back to Black producer Salaam Remi, but there are conflicting reports as to whether or not she actually recorded anything with “Rehab” hitmaker Mark Ronson. Back in March 2009, there were reports that Amy had recorded a bunch of demos while on an extended stay in St Lucia, but her label Island Records rejected them for being “too reggae”. And last July, Amy told reporters that her album would be out by January, and that it would be “very much the same” as Back to Black, describing the songs as “jukebox”.

Sales are also huge in the UK, causing Back to Black to re-enter the official UK albums chart this week at No. 59, with only a few hours sales between her death and the official counting of the chart. If the sales sustain, Amy could easily have the No. 1 album in the UK again by the time next week rolls around.

Amy Winehouse death: Neighbour in Camden heard ‘screaming and howling’

People who knew Amy Winehouse in Camden, north London, have been speaking after the singer’s death at the age of 27.

One of her neighbours said he is convinced she died in the early hours of Friday because he heard screaming.

“I think something happened that night. It sounded like some weird sexual game. There was screaming and howling.”

The man, who would not be named, said he was woken by the sound at around 2am that night.

“It just sounded really weird and my son said he heard some kind of drum beating.”

This afternoon he heard one of Winehouse’s friends crying in the house, and realised she was dead.

He believes a friend left her at home after a night out, and returned this afternoon to find her body.

“She’s been quite low-profile and that’s why, when I heard these sounds - screaming - I thought it was unlike her.

“I said to my son ‘Maybe she’s taken a bad drug’.”

He said he saw her about three weeks ago being helped into the house by her minders, and was unable to walk at 10am.

“She couldn’t walk, she could hardly put one foot in front of the other.”

Her cat, Sky, would come into his house for food and to sleep, he said.

Local restaurant owner Ze Silva, 56, said Winehouse would come in as regularly as twice a week.

She saw her last Tuesday and said she had stopped drinking.

“She had nothing to drink. She said to me ‘Darling, don’t give me any alcohol, I’m not drinking any more’.

“She was normal. She would speak to everyone, have pictures taken with the kids, give autographs to the kids.

“She was a good girl, I’m very sad.”

Winehouse would go to the restaurant, A Baia, to play snooker with her bodyguards and would send them to get her takeaway fried breakfasts.

Flowers, teddies and candles had been left next to the police tape blocking off Camden Square.

One card read: “You will not be forgotten by Camden. We all love you and will continue to love you. Your legend lives on.”

Amy Winehouse 's father has greeted mourners laying flowers outside her north London home, just days after she died.

Mitch Winehouse thanked people for coming to lay bouquets, messages and handwritten notes and said "this means so much to my family."

The 27-year-old singer died Saturday afer publicly struggling with drug and alcohol abuse for years.

Police have said the cause of her death is being treated as "unexplained," and have said speculation that she might have suffered an overdose is "inappropriate."

Police say a post-mortem is expected Monday afternoon.

AMY WINEHOUSE FOUND DEAD

  • Troubled singer had a long battle with drink and drugs
  • London Ambulance Service found singer at 3.54pm but unable to revive her
  • She was 'beyond help' according to Sky sources
  • Autopsy could take place 'within next 24 hours'

Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in London.

The Back To Black singer was found at the property by emergency services at 3.54pm, and it's believed Winehouse's death was due to a suspected drug overdose.

Winehouse was apparently 'beyond help' when paramedics arrived, according to Sky sources.

Sources have also claimed Winehouse's death was due to a drug overdose.

She was 27.

For now it’s being treated as unexplained, but most people are assuming the obvious — drugs.

The five-time Grammy Award winner has publicly battled with a drug and alcohol addiction for years now. After several stints in rehab, she was finally said to be getting herself clean and preparing a comeback, but in May she relapsed and re-entered rehab prior to her European tour. Last month she kicked off the tour in Belgrade, when she appeared on stage clearly intoxicated, slurring her words and stumbling around on stage.

She cancelled the tour, and wasn’t heard of since. Until now.

It's ery shocked & saddened to hear the passing of Amy Winehouse. Amy Whinehouse is one of my favorite artists and that her sophomore album Back to Black is one of my all time favorite records. Her music & spirit will live on. RIP #AmyWinehouse

Katy Perry, Adele, Kanye West Lead VMA Nominees California Gurl Perry leads all nominees with nine nods for the August 28 show.

It's fitting that the leading nominee for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards is Katy Perry, since the California Gurl has had a massive year. Perry nabbed nine nominations for the August 28 awards show, including bids for Best Pop Video, Best Collaboration, Best Direction, Best Special Effects and the biggie, Video of the Year, for her smash "Firework" clip.

Close on her heels is another diva who's had a breakout year: British songbird Adele, who rolled up seven nominations for her hit "Rolling in the Deep" from 21, the best-selling album so far of 2011. Among her nominations are Video of the Year, Best Female Video and Best Pop Video.

It wasn't just about the ladies, though, as Kanye West earned seven nods for his high-concept clips "All of the Lights" and "Power," including Best Hip-Hop Video, Best Male Video and two shots at Best Collaboration for his Rihanna and Kid Cudi hook-up for "Lights" and his cameo in Perry's "E.T."

There was also plenty of love to go around for singer/songwriter Bruno Mars, whose four noms include Video of the Year, Best Pop Video and Best Male Video for "Grenade."

A trio of divas — Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj — were just behind with three VMA nominations each, with Nicki earning Best Hip-Hop Video and Best Female Video bids for "Super Bass," and Gaga and Beyoncé also in contention for the latter for their clips for "Born This Way" and "Run the World (Girls)," respectively. Gaga's other noms are for Best Art Direction and Best Choreography for the controversial "Judas," while B's "Girls" also got noticed in Best Choreography and Best Cinematography.

The #3 all-time VMA award winner, Eminem, picked up three nominations this time for Best Male Video, Best Direction and Best Cinematography for his Rihanna collaboration "Love the Way You Lie."

Among the acts with two nominations are such veterans as the Beastie Boys, Chris Brown, 30 Seconds to Mars and Pitbull, as well as first-time VMA nominees Tyler, The Creator; Foster the People; and Manchester Orchestra.

Other newbies making the nominee list include Wiz Khalifa and Big Sean for Best Hip-Hop Video and Mumford & Sons for Best Rock Video. For a complete rundown of this year's nominees, check out MTV's VMA nominations list.

Harry Potter Makes History

Weekend Box Office (Estimates)
July 15-17, 2011

#1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2
Weekend Gross/Total Gross
($168,550,000 // Debut)

#2. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
($21,250,000 // $302,800,000)

#3. Horrible Bosses
($17,630,000 // $60,002,000)

#4. Zookeper
($12,300,000 // $42,352,000)

#5. Cars 2
($8,334,000 // $165,326,000)

Working its final movie mojo, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 soared into the record books with the highest-grossing opening weekend ever. The series finale drew an estimated $168.55 million, dethroning The Dark Knight's $158.4 million.

How big was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2's opening day?

Record-shattering gigantic.

And, despite the film's tag line, it does not all end here.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 grossed an estimated $92.1 million Friday, Warner Bros. said.

The take was nearly as big as the year's biggest three-day weekend to date, and $20 million bigger than the opening-day record held by the Twilight franchise's New Moon.

Not only did it eclipse the midnight record held by Eclipse, but it was also Hollywood's largest-ever single-day gross, blowing away, among others, New Moon, Eclipse and The Dark Knight.

Speaking of Batman…

The box-office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations today guestimated the final Harry Potter will smash The Dark Knight's three-year-old opening-weekend record with a $175 million Friday-Sunday domestic haul.

So, to recap: Opening-day record; single-day record; opening-weekend record (probably).

Taylor Swift's new perfume, "Wonderstruck"

After announcing last fall she would debut her first signature fragrance in collaboration with Elizabeth Arden, now the details of Taylor Swift's new scent, Wonderstruck, have finally been released. “Wearing perfume is such a unique way to create memories. Like songs, a scent can take you back and allow you to relive a moment in time,” Swift said. And everything from the perfume’s name to the specific ingredients of the scent were drawn from Swift’s personal life experiences. “I wrote the lyric, ‘I’m wonderstruck, blushing all the way home,’ for the song ‘Enchanted’ about the first time you meet someone,” she said. “A fragrance can help shape someone’s first impression and memory of you. It’s exciting to think that Wonderstruck will play a role in creating some of those memories.” Swift will help shape those memories with a gourmand floral scent, boasting notes of vibrant fruits including raspberry and apple blossom, with notes of golden amber and sandalwood.
