The Royal Wedding 2011
Prince William and Kate Middleton invited 1,900 guests to their royal wedding, including David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and David Furnish and Samantha and David Cameron
The bride, Catherine Middleton
After months of speculation, the designer of Kate's wedding dress was finally unveiled as Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.
With a 2.7m train, lace detailing and a skirt 'like a flower opening', all eyes were on the bride's much-praised gown.
Kate and her dress were the epitome of royal glamour, drawing widespread comparisons to Hollywood icon and fellow royal bride Grace Kelly.
The groom, Prince William of Wales
The man of the moment Prince William wore his red Irish Guards Mounted Officer’s uniform for the ceremony, surprising many who thought he would marry in his RAF uniform.
He was also wearing his Garter sash and star, Royal Air Force wings, and Golden Jubilee medal.
The Windsors and the Middletons
Like William, Charles and Harry also wore military outfits for the occasion.
Newly promoted Harry wore his uniform of Captain of the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals, while the Prince of Wales wore the Royal Navy number one ceremonial dress.
Her Majesty The Queen wore a suitably sophisticated primrose dress and matching hat designed by Angela Kelly, while mother of the bride Carole Middleton wore a sky blue coatdress by Catherine Walker.
Maid of Honour Pippa Middleton wore a dazzling bridesmaid dress by Sarah Burton, while the bridesmaids all looked suitable cute in their dresses.
The Duchess of Cornwall wore a champagne silk dress and a duck egg blue coat by Anna Valentine with a Philip Treacy hat and Jimmy Choo shoes.
Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice went for rather daring wedding outfits: Eugenie wore a bright blue suit with large hat, while Beatrice wore a taupe coat and dress with an unusual Philip Treacy head piece.

Politicians and their wives
David's choice of suit dominated the headlines, but the PM eventually settled on a smart morning suit.
Wife Samantha Cameron had been tipped to wear Christopher Kane, but ended up wearing a teal Burberry dress with an orange scarf.
While SamCam looked the part, Speaker's wife Sally Bercow raised eyebrows with her low-cut dress.
Nick Clegg's wife Miriam also made a fashion faux-pas, teaming a black spotted dress with a rather garish red hat.
And William Hague's wife Ffion had a rather unwelcome accessory – a leg cast.

Best of the rest
David and Victoria Beckham threatened to steal the show with their sophisticated outfits – David wore a smart Ralph Lauren grey suit, while Victoria plumped for one of her own creations and a Phillip Treacy hat.
Ben Fogle made a bold statement with an electric blue tie, while pregnant wife Marina wore a green dress with taupe accessories.
Elton John looked sharp, teaming his smart suit with a cream waistcoat and lilac tie.
Partner David Furnish played it safe in grey, but also looked dapper.
Rowan Atkinson was also looking dandy, in a traditional top hat and tails.
Other high-profile guests in attendance included Tara Palmer-Tomkinson, singer Joss Stone and Labour leader Ed Milliband.
